What is Fresh 48 Newborn Photography?
Fresh 48 Newborn Photography is a special photography session done at your baby's place of birth (hospital, birthing center or home). It takes place 24-48 hours after your newborn has arrived (if you have a c-section we'll wait until you are mobile and moving around). It is the perfect way to celebrate and document your baby's birth without having a photographer there during the whole birth. Fresh 48 Newborn Photography is so special to me. After waiting for your baby and imaging this day, your baby is finally here! Your baby will grow so quick so capturing those moments when they are brand new are so essential. I love photographing real and organic moments of your new family. They will be your favorite pictures to look back on. We can also time our session so that I am there when an older brother or sister is meeting the baby for the first time.
I typically spend around 1 hour - 1.5 hours with you for a fresh 48 newborn photography session. I'll spend my time there photographing you and your family and all the details of your baby and your hospital room. There's always time to take a break, if your baby needs to feed or change a diaper and I will never rush our session. Your postpartum room is a special place. It's the room you'll experience many firsts with your newborn and I love photographing all of those for you.
One of the reasons I am so passionate about these newborn photography sessions is because I only have a handful of photographs of me and my son in the hospital. Me! Who went to college for photography and have been photographing everything in front of me for about 15 years! The truth is I was sooo tired and recovering from my long birth and I was so focused on learning how to be a mom that I had absolutely no time to take photographs even though I was in the hospital for 6 days. I wish so much that I had hired a newborn photographer to come do a Fresh 48 Session and I definitely will for my next baby.
